Absolutely. I had to do a little search on your Elrond Hubbard but all became clear. I doubt very much that Steiner ever grew a plant or put his hands in the soil. More a case of esoteric discussion in the salons of Vienna, now treated as gospel by devotees. And it is all absoutely fine until they start claiming the higher moral ground and attempting to justify their beliefs with aforementioned psuedoscience!

Pseudoscience as sound horticultural advice is everywhere these days, even on supposed credible gardening programs. I've investigated the theories behind moon planting and biodynamics as well and came to the same conclusion as you, Abbie. It's the systematic approach that these methods outline that give people, often novices, their first successes. It's a harmless practice though, so to each his own. Biodynamics, on the other hand... Lets just say that Rudolf Steiner was the Elrond Hubbard of the horticultural world.

We are on the west coast of the North Island (of NZ) so mild, coastal conditions. The tetracentron is growing in our park in an area which is largely protected from strong winds and open to plenty of sunshine. I don't know its history in the UK though there are probably older specimens there because it was discovered earlier than the Kingdon Ward expedition which brought our seed. However, our growing conditions here are so favourable that as a rule, plants grow much more quickly and much larger than in cooler climates like the UK.
